Taking advantage of this Friday’s visit to Qatar by the Secretary for Foreign Affairs (SRE), Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón, senators of the self-called “Fourth Transformation” asked the foreign minister to intervene with the authorities of that country on the case of Paola Schietekat Sedas on Thursday afternoon.At a press conference, and with the presence of the young Mexican woman, the Morenoist José Narro urged Ebrard to ensure that, through his diplomatic faculties, Paola can appear remotely on April 3 and be able to count on immediate release.It should be recalled that the 27-year-old internationalist, who was part of the World Cup Organizing Committee (COM) to be held next November, had to flee the capital Doha in early 2022 after being sentenced to 100 lashes and seven years in prison.The reason: to have reported sexual abuse to a Colombian friend who claimed that they were “engaged”; and that is that extramarital relations are a crime in Islamic Law.With short hair, white blouse and blue pants, Schietekat Sedas assured legislators that he is not afraid that the Qatari authorities will come to Mexico to look for her or go to Doha to appear, but that they will continue to defer their hearing and forget their case.“If I have to travel to Qatar next week to appear before a court, I want to do everything possible to ensure that there are the measures that need to be on the part of the foreign ministry for the resolution to be favorable,” he added.KEEP READING:
