More than 8,000 civilians were evacuated from several Ukrainian cities through humanitarian corridors

A total of 8,057 people were evacuated from Ukrainian cities through humanitarian corridors on Monday, as reported by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk.Specifically, 3,007 civilians from the city of Mariupol have managed to reach Zaporiyia, while at least 4,750 people have been evacuated from the Kiev region. In addition, in the Lugansk region at least 300 people were able to leave the cities of Lisichansk, Severodonetsk and Horski.“26 buses have arrived in the city of Berdyansk. The difficulties created by the occupying forces at checkpoints on the route to Mariupol do not allow buses to reach the meeting places quickly,” he said, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency Unian.“Unfortunately, due to the bombing of the occupation troops, the evacuation of the Kozarovichi people could not take place,” he added, as he pointed out in a message on his official Facebook profile.Vereshchuk also reported that about 45,000 people have been evacuated since the start of the Russian invasion, although more than 100,000 civilians still remain in the city of Mariupol, where the number of victims exceeds 3,000 people, according to the news agency Ukrinform. For his part, Kirilo Tymoshenko, ‘number two’ of the office of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, pointed out that a humanitarian corridor will be opened in Berdyansk for the villages of Melekine and Nikolske this Tuesday from 9 am to 11 am (local time) and that 27 additional buses will be sent from the city of Zaporiyia, as collected by Ukrainian news agency Interfax.Ukrainian President Volodymir ZelenskyMeanwhile, Zelensky said on Monday that “the end of the war” will not be possible without a meeting “in any format” with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and said he is willing to talk “about the occupied territories”.“I think that, at the moment, without a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation in any format, and I have been repeating and proposing it for several years, without this meeting you cannot really understand what you are willing to do to stop the war,” said the Ukrainian president. In this regard, he assured that in this possible meeting with Putin “he is willing to raise questions about the occupied territories”. “They are relevant to us and very important. But I am sure that this decision will not be taken at that meeting,” he said, as reported by Ukrainian news agencies.(With information from Europa Press)KEEP READING:Zelensky urged a meeting with Putin and said he was willing to talk about the occupied territoriesThe Pentagon criticized Russia’s indiscriminate attacks on residential areas and civilians in UkraineThe Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed that Russian troops have been rejected in Makariv
